With Chelsea Groton’s Smart Card tool for your business, you can manage your business Visa® Debit Card and debit cards you’ve given to your employees. Turn your card on or off, set a PIN, view your digital debit card, set spending limits, customize alerts, restrict your card to only allow purchases in your location, and more!

Benefits of Smart Card: 

  • Push to Wallet – Easily add your business’s card information directly into Google Pay or Apple Pay wallet.
  • Transaction Enrichment – Simply click on a transaction to view the merchant’s contact information, including phone number and website. Plus, if the card was used in person, the merchant’s address will also be shared.
  • View Digital Card – After passing an initial security verification challenge, you can see your full card number, expiration date, and CVV for 100 seconds.
  • Spend Insights – View a pie chart that outlines how much money you’ve spent in each of several merchant categories.
  • Card on File – View the merchants who have your card on file, and historical transactions with those merchants. Plus, review all recurring payments you’ve set up.
  • Set PIN – Once you pass a security verification challenge, you’ll be able to update your PIN directly in Smart Card.
  • Easy Access – Smart Card is accessible directly in online and mobile banking.

How to start using Smart Card: 

  • To start using Smart Card, open your CGB Mobile Banking App or log into online banking.
  • In the mobile menu, select Smart Card. For desktop, navigate to Smart Card in the top menu.
  • When prompted, enter your card information and confirm your identity.
  • Enjoy the benefits of managing your card access with Smart Card! 

Chelsea Groton Smart Card is supported by your device’s three most recent operating system versions. Limited merchant types may still get approved when using geolocation services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Smart Card is a tool you can access from your CGB Mobile App and online banking to manage your Visa® Debit Cards associated with your business. Smart Card allows you to:

  • Turn your card on and off
  • Set locations where your card may be used
  • Restrict transactions based on merchant type
  • Establish thresholds for transaction amounts
  • Schedule alerts for transactions
  • Have immediate access to account information and controls
  • Notify Chelsea Groton of your travel plans

Your card will automatically appear in Smart Card. If you need to manage another person’s or business debit card, select Add Card and, when prompted, enter the card information and confirm your identity.

You’ll be able to access the Smart Card tool directly from your CGB Mobile banking app and through online banking.  Simply log in to your CGB Mobile app or online banking and click Smart card from the menus.

Yes! You will add each card into Smart Card that you want to manage. Once added, you can enable unique controls and alerts per card by selecting the card you want to manage from the Card Details screen and selecting the appropriate function.

Through Smart Card, you can place a temporary block on the card by clicking the toggle button next to “Card is ON” to restrict the card. All transactions, except for recurring payments, will be denied. If you find your card in a secure location, you may return to Smart Card and tap Unlock Card to un-restrict your card.

Under Manage Cards, then Controls & Alerts, tap Spend Limits to set transaction thresholds. To do so:

  • Tap Set limit per transaction slider to ON so the amount field is enabled and you can enter the threshold amount.
  • Tap Apply for the Spend Limit Control feature to take effect.
  • Any transaction over this amount will be denied. Note, standard daily card limits apply.

You can control both merchant categories and transaction types.

To control specific merchant categories, tap Merchants from Manage Card Controls. You can restrict activity based on the following merchant categories:

  • Department Store — Department stores, general-purpose shopping
  • Entertainment — Movie, theater, games
  • Gas Station — Gas stations
  • Grocery — Grocery stores, discount stores and pharmacies
  • Household — Household contractors, home improvement stores
  • Personal Care — Personal care stores
  • Restaurant — Restaurants, fast food
  • Travel — Airlines, trains, taxicabs, hotels, railroads
  • Other — ATM and all other merchant types

Note, some merchant transaction types will always be allowed — i.e. contractors, landscaping services, veterinary services and more.

You can also control transaction types by tapping Transaction Types from Manage Card Controls to control the types of transactions available on your card:

  • In Store Transaction — made in a physical store
  • Online (E-Commerce) — An online transaction
  • Mail/Phone Order — Transaction via mail or phone
  • ATM — Transaction at the ATM such as a withdrawal or deposit

Under Manage Cards, then Controls & Alerts, you can select from three location controls:

  • My Location — Compares the location of your mobile device against the merchant’s location. You must turn ON the device’s Location Settings and enable location tracking.
  • My Region — Select a region from an interactive map to specify a region where your card can be used. Specify up to three control regions per card. Each region has a minimum radius of 5 miles.
  • International Transactions — Block transactions made outside of your home country.

You can notify us of your travel plans directly from CGB Smart Card in real-time so you may use a card more easily while you travel.

  4. Authenticate by entering Token in app
  5. Enter the start and end date
  6. Confirm travel dates and locations

Alerts are a helpful way to track debit card activity and alert you quickly to unauthorized or suspicious transactions. With Smart Card, you can customize the alerts you’d like to receive. To enable Push Notifications, under Manage Card, select Controls & Alerts, then Alerts. You can establish whether you want alerts for all transactions, customized alerts, or no alerts. Additionally, the enable email alerts, from the main Smart Card screen, click the gear icon, then Personal Information, and select the toggle button next to email.

Custom alerts include:

  • Locations — if your card is used internationally or outside your region
  • Spend Limit — if transactions process in excess of a minimum amount you establish
  • Merchant Types — if your card is used at a specific type of merchant
  • Transaction Types — if your card is used in store, online, at an ATM or with a Mail/Phone Order company

You will always receive an alert for denied transactions.
