Belonging, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at Chelsea Groton

Chelsea Groton’s ONE CHELSEA initiative highlights the strength of the Bank’s continuous commitment to belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion throughout history, and its focus on ensuring an ongoing sense of belonging for all, today and in the future.

Led by a steering committee, the mission of ONE CHELSEA is to recognize the extraordinary diversity of the human experience and prioritize continuous personal and enterprise growth that enriches an inclusive, equitable and supportive environment. Five sub-committees, led by employees from all levels and departments at the Bank, focus on driving this mission forward in the areas of Products and Services, Communications, Vendor Management, Workforce Diversity and Learning & Development respectively.

New Products and Services

Chelsea Groton launched Confidence Builder Banking, a program officially certified by the National Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund as meeting the Bank On National Account Standards which were created to ensure that everyone has access to safe and affordable financial products and services.  

We also proudly offer phone and video interpreter services, in 240 languages and American Sign Language. Stop by any branch to learn more!

ONE CHELSEA Volunteer Days

Each year, Chelsea Groton team members join local organizations for a day of service. Recently, the Bank sent volunteers to Care & Share of East Lyme, the Madonna Place in Norwich, the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center, and the Riverfront Children’s Center for a day of service. Team members spent their time cleaning up playgrounds, stocking shelves, handing out backpacks, and organizing storage. 

Learning and Development

The “One Chelsea” program deepens Chelsea Groton’s BEDI-focus across all the Bank does, encouraging a celebration of what makes all team members unique; a commitment to an inclusive and equitable culture; recruitment of talent who will support and add to company culture; and a team who focuses on inclusion and diversity.

Book Clubs

Chelsea Groton has a few book clubs meeting throughout the region, and several selections have a purposeful BEDI-focus. Join us to read and learn together!
