Spreading Joy and Giving Back

At Chelsea Groton Bank, giving back to our community is at the heart of everything we do. This year, our team came together in incredible ways to support local families, organizations, and causes that make a difference.

Adopt a Family

Through our annual Adopt a Family program, we provided holiday cheer to 17 families, adopted through six local agencies: Care & Share of East LymeCommunity Health ResourcesGroton Human ServicesJonnycake Center of Westerly, St. Vincent de Paul Place Norwich, and Waterford Youth & Family Services.

Giving Tuesday

In celebration of Giving Tuesday, we invited customers in our branches to nominate a nonprofit they felt deserved a donation from Chelsea Groton Bank. Thanks to their input, Kitty Harbor, Inc. in Griswold, who received the most in-branch votes, was the winning organization. We’re proud to support their mission of caring for cats in need.

Volunteerism

Our team members dedicated time and energy throughout the year to volunteer in meaningful ways. Teams volunteered for three Build Days with Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticutsupported many United Way of Southeastern Connecticut Mobile Food Drives throughout the year, and our Strategic Planning Committee spent a morning sorting food at the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center, in addition to many other individual and team outings throughout the year. Team Chelsea continues to step up to serve the community.

Food Drive

Chelsea Groton customers and team members together collected over 800 pounds of food that was donated to St. Vincent de Paul Place Norwich and the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center. To further contribute to the fight against hunger in our region, the Chelsea Groton Foundation and the Bank donated an additional $11,000 to the cause.

Employee-led Initiatives

Our team members went above and beyond with creative ways to give. This winter, employees purchased 42 pairs of boots for children through Thames Valley Council for Community Action. The team also rallied to collect new toys which will be distributed to area children through Toys for Tots in partnership with the Connecticut Mortgage Bankers Association, the Tommy Toy Fund, and to residents of Branford Manor in Groton

Thank you to our customers, community partners, and team members for making all of this possible. Together, we’re building stronger communities and brighter futures.
