How to Know When It’s Really Your Bank and When It’s Not

Jobs. Children. Activities. Events. Due Dates. Health appointments. Future. Planning. The list can go on and on when talking about the many things on one’s mind. With new topics constantly flashing through your periphery, a simple phone call from your bank can feel inconsequential in the moment. And that’s what bad actors are counting on.

If you’re a customer of Chelsea Groton Bank, or any reputable financial institution, keep these tips in mind if someone claiming to be from your known financial institution contacts you directly.

  1. Chelsea Groton Bank will NEVER contact you by phone call or text to verify your identity or ask for personal, debit card, or online banking login information. If someone calls saying they are from the bank and asks for any of the above, do not share your personal information.
  2. Be cautious and wary of text messages or phone calls appearing to be from Chelsea Groton Bank headquarters or a branch phone number that asks for your personal or financial information.
  3. Chelsea Groton Bank will NEVER reach out and ask you to transfer money for any reason.
  4. If you’re suspicious, hang up the phone call and call Chelsea Groton Bank with a known and verified phone number or visit one of our branches in-person. Utilize our Customer Care team to verify the security of your account or for any concerns by calling 860-448-4200 or email security@chelseagroton.com.
