In today’s fast-paced financial world, Lori Dufficy, the Chief Experience and Engagement Officer at Chelsea Groton Bank, really stands out. She’s not just about growth and innovation; she’s all about building meaningful relationships within the community. Lori oversees everything from retail banking and wealth management to marketing and public relations, showing what it means to lead with purpose and vision.
Lori’s journey into banking was inspired by her father, a former banker who saw her potential early on. He knew she had a knack for numbers, a talent for connecting with people, and a great track record in sales. “He eagerly highlighted the advantages of the banking industry,” Lori recalls. “Thirty-three years later, I can confidently say he was right.”
Lori’s knack for leadership is rooted in family values and a passion for service. Her extensive career, spanning retail, residential lending, and commercial banking, has shaped her into the leader she is today. She joined Chelsea Groton’s leadership team 14 years ago as Senior Vice President of Business Development, and her role has only grown since then.
Lori believes in nurturing talent. “I take great pride in assisting future leaders by guiding them toward their career aspirations,” she says. This approach has created a culture of collaboration, productivity, and innovation at the Bank.
Beyond her role at Chelsea Groton, Lori is spreading the word on what a mutual bank is. She’s a founding member of the national awareness campaign, Mutuals Matter, which educates the public on the benefits of mutual banking. Unlike stock banks, mutual banks are trusted, community-focused partners. Mutuals are focused on the well-being of their customers and communities rather than profits, reinvesting their profits in local economies.
Lori is also deeply committed to her community. She serves as Vice President of the Chelsea Groton Foundation, participates in the bank’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Steering Committee, and holds leadership roles in organizations like the ICBA’s Mutual Bank Council and Waterford Country School. Her dedication to service underscores her belief in the power of giving back.
Outside of work, Lori enjoys a rich life with her high school sweetheart, Jim, their two daughters, and three grandchildren. They love hosting family gatherings, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
Looking ahead, Lori continues to lead with passion, purpose, and a strong commitment to the community, shaping Chelsea Groton Bank’s future and supporting local initiatives.
