For 170 years, Chelsea Groton has remained steadfast in its commitment to its community and customers through dedication and supporting goals as if they were our own. As we look back on 2024, we’re remembering all the ways Chelsea Groton helped make a difference in its community.
- Chelsea Groton Foundation – This year, the Chelsea Groton Foundation awarded $641,382 in grants, and $6.79 million in total grants to the community since its founding in 1998. More organizations (179) applied for grants this calendar year than in the Foundation’s 26-year history.
- Acts of Kindness – In honor of the Bank’s birthday on July 3rd, Chelsea Groton team members were invited to select a non-profit organization of their choice to receive a donation in their name from the Chelsea Groton Foundation. Over 125 different organizations were recipients of a total of $21,800, based on nominations by the Chelsea Groton team.
- Dress Down for Charity – Each Friday, the Bank hosts Dress Down for Charity days, where a $5 donation to a non-profit gives contributing team members the opportunity to wear jeans. In 2024, over $13,000 has been donated to non-profit organizations chosen by team members.
- Volunteerism – Chelsea Groton team members embraced Chelsea’s commitment to build a strong community this year by participating in various community projects. A few highlights include the team’s collaboration with Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut for a Group Build Day in Norwich, volunteering at Mobile Food Pantries with the United Way of Southeastern CT, and organizing care packages for 250 local families with Provision Ministry.
- Adopted Families – This holiday season, Chelsea Groton Bank and the Chelsea Groton Foundation adopted 14 local families in need of some holiday cheer through area organizations: Care & Share of East Lyme, Groton Human Services, the Jonnycake Center of Westerly, Norwich Human Services with St. Vincent de Paul Place, and the Town of Waterford Youth & Family Services. Through this program, over 45 children will receive toys, clothes, and games just in time for the holidays!
