Getting Started with Chelsea U

During the school year, students are taught about math, literature, science, and history. But what about finances? Don’t fret, Chelsea Groton has teens and young adults covered with our Chelsea U Student Banking Program.

Teenage Students

“When opening their first Chelsea U Student Banking account, our student customers are finding financial independence,” said Marjarie Perrone, Customer Solutions Assistant Manager at Chelsea Groton’s Salem Branch. “Times are different when you’re a teenager. Teens have some say in their spending and savings, and they love the opportunity to grow. Online banking is a positive tool to monitor charges daily and together with a parent or guardian, our students can see their spending and recognize if something is not theirs.”

At first glance, finances can feel overwhelming. That’s why we break it down into manageable bite-sized pieces. Students are invited to participate in educational classes that are two-fold. The Starting Out class offers information on the difference between checking and savings, how to fill out a deposit slip, how to write a check, and more. As the students age into their account, our Financial Foundations class teaches them how to create a budget, tips for saving and identity protection, and being credit safe in a digital world. All participating students receive complimentary access to the following services:

  • Online Banking, Bill Payment and Monthly Account Statements
  • Mobile Banking & Check Deposits
  • Online and Mobile Banking Alerts
  • Video Banking and ATM Transactions
  • Direct Deposit
  • Visa Debit Card
