Chelsea Groton Bank Introduces Video Interpreter Services

As part of Chelsea Groton’s ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility for all, the Bank now offers complimentary video interpreter services in 240 languages and American Sign Language from all branch locations through the Bank’s partnership with LanguageLine Solutions®. Chelsea Groton will continue to offer phone interpreter services, available at all bank locations or by phone.

“New London County is an incredibly culturally-diverse community,” shared Lori Dufficy, EVP, Chief Experience and Engagement Officer at Chelsea Groton Bank. “Providing those who do not speak English as their primary language, or are deaf or hard-of-hearing, with an opportunity to clearly understand our product and service offering, is so important. We want all members of our community to have the opportunity to ask questions and benefit from the advice we are able to provide. Our partnership with LanguageLine has allowed us to better serve our diverse customer-base over the last few years, and the addition of video will only help to further improve comfort and communication between all parties.”

According to the US Census, nearly 750,000 Connecticut residents are speakers of a non-English language, which is higher than the national average. The most common non-English languages spoken in Connecticut are Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Italian, French, Chinese, French Creole, and Hindi. LanguageLine Solutions provides interpreters for these and over 230 additional languages, including American Sign Language.
