Owen, a rising sophomore at the University of Rhode Island, is studying Business Administration. He was recently an intern in the Credit Department, returning to Chelsea Groton for the summer after previously completing a winter internship.
Path to Chelsea
During winter break, Owen gained early internship experience and exposure to a professional workplace setting. He worked with a variety of departments including Credit, Loan Servicing, and Risk and Compliance. Owen was extremely appreciative of the opportunity to explore so many departments and gain exposure to a variety of roles. In particular, he enjoyed his time in Loan Servicing, as well as working hands-on with the BSA team. He appreciated the variety of work and the chance to learn something new each day.
Growth in Action
Regarding his decision to participate in a summer internship here, Owen said, “The people made it an easy decision to come back.” He has found that everyone has so much to teach, and he feels like he has grown tremendously in a short amount of time. The supportive culture and strong relationships he has built with the team have made the experience especially rewarding. Owen described his winter internship as welcoming and well-planned. He said everyone was very kind and informative, taking the time to explain tasks thoroughly to ensure his understanding.
Beyond the Office
Owen enjoys golfing, spending time with friends and family, and being involved with the active Greek community at URI. He also participates in volunteer work and enjoys being involved in the community.
Looking Forward
Owen is eager to apply what he has learned during his internships to future coursework and professional opportunities. While he is still exploring his long-term career path, he is excited to see what opportunities may arise within the financial services industry.
