Over the past few months, we’ve heard many people have been receiving an increased amount of unwanted solicitations or “trigger lead” calls and mail from mortgage lenders, credit card companies, and other credit grantors. If you recently had your credit pulled when applying for a personal loan or mortgage, it’s likely the credit bureaus have sold your information. Often within 24 hours of your credit being pulled, your contact information is placed on a “trigger lead” list, and sold to creditors and insurers, making you a target for these unsolicited calls. Please know, Chelsea Groton Bank will never sell your confidential information.
Here are some tips to help you opt out in order to decrease or eliminate these unwanted solicitations:
To eliminate unwanted mail solicitations, you can either visit www.optoutprescreen.com or call 888-567-8688.
If you want to eliminate unwanted phone solicitations, you need to visit www.donotcall.gov or call 888-382-1222. Make sure to include all the phone numbers you currently use for both home and cell.
Please note the following exceptions: companies that have a current relationship with you are exempt, as well as certain non-profit organizations, such as religious, political, or community-based non-profits seeking funding. To opt out of these solicitations, it is best to contact each organization directly.
