Holiday Travel Fraud Poem

Whether you are a Dasher or Prancer for travel during the holiday season, there are fraudsters on the hunt for no good reason.

As you spread holiday cheer, be on the lookout for something to fear. Scammers will tempt you with something too good to be true. But worry not as you already knew!

That suddenly cheap rental car isn’t what it seems. You’re right it’s a scam as you have deemed.

“You won a vacation!” said the person over the phone. Before you act, put them on hold. They say a fee is owed, “It’s typical you know!”. But that’s a sign, unfortunately, that it’s a no-go.

You’re looking for a rental booking, but you already know what fraudsters have cooking. It’s a false ad; the booking has been hijacked. Another family has it and your holiday weekend could have fallen flat. Red flags were seen, so research needed to be done if you were going to avert crisis and continue on with your holiday fun.

You know to keep your information safe and search for reviews and complaints. If you’re asked to prepay with crypto, wire transfer, or gift cards; it’s an automatic “No way!”.

Create a strong password for account protection and be sure to turn on multifactor authentication.

We wish you a holiday full of cheer and laughter. Filled with warm hugs and smiles to share with each other.

Happy Holidays!
